Ramus Seafood

The Festival - Saturday the 29th May until Sunday the 11th July.

This Festival has been created by Ramus Seafoods to promote innovative, sustainable, environmentally friendly, quality British seafood. Britain’s shoreline produces some of the best seafood in the world, and we should be celebrating this bountiful harvest. That is what the British Seafood Festival is all about.

In conjunction with an array of the finest local restaurants, we will be showcasing six of the UK’s best seafood delights. The six fish have been selected on the basis of a combination of seasonality, sustainability, quality and Britishness. In participating venues all over the county, creative chefs will be combining these quality ingredients to bring you a seafood experience second to none. At the heart of all these fish feast dishes, will be:

  • Premium Anglesey Farmed Bass, genetically closer to wild bass than any other, and the only one farmed in the United Kingdom.
  • Gigha Halibut fillet. Sustainable-farmed fish from Gigha Island in the Outer Hebrides. www.gighahalibut.co.uk
  • Atkinson’s Traditional Natural Smoked Haddock. Atkinson’s is one of only four Grimsby smokers to be able to sell their fish as traditional Grimsby smoked fish under the coveted Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) which puts Grimsby smoked fish on the same level of quality foodstuffs as Parma Ham and Champagne. www.gtfsgroup.co.uk/index.html
  • Large Rainbow trout. These are farmed by Alderley trout farm in Gloucestershire and are large 1.5 to 2kg Trout. A great alternative to salmon or sea trout.
  • Fresh Cod loins. 170g thick loins of superb fresh Cod. Ideal for roasting.
